Hand crafted peg jointed wooden doll inspired by the antique Grodnertal dolls of days gone by. She started out as a block of wood – her body and limbs were turned on the lathe then cut, carved and jointed by hand. She is jointed at knees, hips, elbows and shoulders. Additionally, she has been crafted to allow her arms to move independently, allowing for a wider range of poses as demonstrated in the photos. She was going to be a tuck comb type but she fought me on that and has ended up being inspired by an early Grodnertal with a carved topknot. She also insisted on a gilded band around the hairdo, all in all quite a demanding little character! She has been hand painted and sealed to give her a more aged appearance. Finally, her outfit was made – you can see the undergarments in the photos. She is also signed with my initials on her back. She stands approx 5 7/8 inches tall overall, thanks to the hairstyle! Without that, her height would be approx 5 3/4 inches, so she is 1/12 scale or would fit a larger scale antique house very well.
